ABOUT ME

BRETT RAYNER (Banff, Alberta)

Ontario born, Banff living, trail runner, downhill skier, rock climber, slackliner, summit scrambler, and all around mountain man.

Growing up I was quite active, playing soccer and baseball, as well as downhill skiing and mountain biking with my family. I also loved performing, and soon my life was consumed with dance, singing, and acting classes. This love for performace, and more spefically theatre turned me on to my current career path of theatrical production. I attended Ryerson University in Toronto for Performance Production where I studied Lighting, Sound, and Staging. Currently, I am a Practicum at The Banff Centre in the Stage Carpentry department of the theatre. Here I am working on my practical skills in staging and event production, as well as building leadership skills.

Moving to Banff has been the best experience of my life. There are so many people here that are living a healthy, active lifestyle. I am motivated everyday by the people I see running on the trails, zipping by on mountain bikes, hanging off rock walls, or hiking Tunnel Mountain. Although I may not know these people, I am always greeted with a smile, a nod, or a cheerful 'Hello'. Banff, and the people I have met here have been so welcoming, insightful, and inspiring, and I am so thankful for the opportunity to live in such a great place.

Everyday I strive to be a better me, and get outside and do something in this beautiful world we have been given. I love to impart my knowledge on others, and help my friends, or strangers, experience something new and fun. I believe that if you work hard enough, keep a positive attitude, and have an open mind, you can do anything.
